Development phase 1: 2017-2021
As a continuation of the railway station, Place Charles Béraudier opens up new views towards the municipal library and the shopping centre. The project plans to design a larger square on two levels, by 2022.
Already opened up by the demolition of the B10 building in 2015, the space on Place Charles Béraudier will provide a square at ground level and another underground level. At ground level, a real urban square will be planted with a number of trees, and will connect the railway station to La Part-Dieu district with a pleasant pedestrian flow on Boulevard Vivier Merle. The lower level will be bathed in light and very easy to access, providing travellers with a large bike parking station, with 1,500 places, a taxi rank, and a new route to the Metro. This space will be linked to the ground level via two openings.
