The City and Département Archives moved into an already iconic building, in September 2014. Its gold façade is a landmark and it spurred on the redevelopment of this part of the district, east of the railway lines, which is now underway.
Designed to house the archive’s historical treasures, the building is a combination of black and gold. This new archives building fits into the urban landscape of la Part-Dieu very well, adding real symbolic strength. The building volumes comprise 8 floors and a wide variety of rooms in which exhibitions are shown. There are also 51 shops (200 m²), with at least 71 km of shelves!
