Landscaping work phase 1: 2017-2019
The south of La Part-Dieu has been transfigured in the last 10 years, from boulevard Vivier-Merle to Rue Maurice Flandin/Jeanne Hachette, and from Rue Paul Bert to Cours Gambetta/Albert Thomas, with the development of tertiary buildings on the south section of Boulevard Vivier-Merle and the redesign of the ZAC de la Buire mixed development zone (offices, housing, park, school buildings).
More recently, the development of Rue Mouton Duvernet and its connection with Rue de la Villette, east of the rail marshalling yard, along with the rectification of the T3 and the arrival of the T4 line, have opened new development possibilities in this area of the district, between the railway lines and the new street, facing Nelson Mandela Esplanade.
In the long-term, the urban project plans the creation of a large green space north of Avenue Félix Faure, in continuity with Nelson Mandela Park, designed by Atelier Ruelle around Fort Montluc, in 2005.
Pending this final development, by 2019, Rue Flandin will be rectified to relieve the central space of traffic and parking. It will be altered to connect with the office construction project for the Orange group.
