Calendar

1st phase of development 2017-2022

Following on from the public spaces and road infrastructure, the station will be entirely redesigned to offer more facilities and greater ease of movement.

A larger user-centric railway station

The railway station will be extended through the creation of three new shopping malls (Béraudier, Pompidou and Villette), doubling its surface area. The spaces dedicated to passengers (circulation and waiting areas) will also double in size. The flow in the central station will be improved by relocating services and sales to the Béraudier mall, providing 6 metres more space. The new spatial planning will comply with current standards for the disabled, with a view to making the railway station accessible to everyone. The entire traveller information system will be rethought to adapt to the new layout and provide the latest technology.

The Beraudier shopping centre: a distillation of services

Designed on three levels, this shopping centre offers a dense array of shops and services. The area of the station’s ground floor dedicated mainly to shops will be tripled to reach 10,000 m². The first floor will accommodate the ticket sales, waiting rooms, toilets, and shops continuing on from the ground floor. In addition to these facilities, a well-known restaurant and business centre will be established on the second and top floor. The goal is to address the needs of every traveller by providing a wide range of shops and services in line with current uses.

Villette shopping mall: opening the station to the east

This new shopping mall runs along the future L rail and will develop the services and shops available in the east of the district, which is the site of two tram lines, the Rhônexpress and the bus station. It will accommodate the same combination of services as in the Béraudier shopping centre, except on one floor: waiting area, shops that either end, toilets and left luggage.
