The Velum building in La Buire district, a short distance from the railway station emphasises the importance of plants and comfortable surroundings. Rented out to EDF in 2013, it represents one of the symbols of the redevelopment of the south of La Part-Dieu.
This 6-storey building for the service sector plays with transparency. By way of a double skin, a large area of glass acts as a filter with the exterior. The many green spaces create a link with the exterior: 2 hanging gardens, a 1,500 m² green roof and a landscaped garden at the centre of the block. The Velum is HQE and BBC (low energy building) certified and mobility is central to its environmental approach, with 24 parking spaces for electric cars and 40 bike spaces.
